The backing piece comes from a very old die that is seen both in old Haskell and Amourelle pieces (a line developed, I THINK! by Miriam Haskell's nephew and Frank Hess, who headed Haskell jewels for a long time in its heyday) Our Russian Goldplated finish is very close to the plating used on their pieces.
